The
"Cameristi Italiani" were formed in 1992 and have amongst their
members teachers and soloists from the symphony orchestra of the
Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. The honorary president is
Roberto Corsi, the president is Francesco Squarcia, and the artistic
director and concerto master is Giuseppe Prencipe.
The "Cameristi
|
Italiani" were the only Italian ensemble to be invited to perform
during the celebrations held to mark the three hundredth anniversary of
the birth of Giuseppe Tartini. During
this performance, which was broadcast by Eurosvision, Maestro Prencipe
played the "Amati" violin which once belonged to Tartini and
which had been specially restored for the occasion - it was thus, as has
already been observed, played for the first time in over two centuries.
During the celebrations
for the national day of the Republic of Italy in 1994 the "Cameristi
Italiani" performed at Lubiana - capital of the Republic of Slovenia
- during a concert organised by the Italian embassy in that country. In
August 1995 they were invited by the Italian government to play in the
gardens of Palazzo Farnese during a gala evening in honour of the Prince
of Wales.
